How to Send a Direct Message (DM) on Instagram's Threads
Threads has officially rolled out its new direct messaging (DM) feature to all users. This addition allows private conversations between individuals, bringing the app more in line with other social media services like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. However, there are some initial limitations on who you can message as the feature launches. To maintain a level of privacy and control, Threads currently supports direct messages only between people who follow each other or those who are mutual followers on Instagram. This means that unless someone follows you back—or you're already connected through Instagram—you won’t be able to initiate a private conversation with them on Threads. Accessing the DM feature is simple within the Threads app. You’ll notice an envelope icon located in the bottom toolbar.
