Storipod is a microblogging platform that focuses on short stories, designed to evolve into a creator's marketplace. It allows users to share and monetize their writing in a WhatsApp status-like format. Users can create "Stori" format content, interact with other writers, and potentially earn money by locking parts of their stories for a fee.
I started using Storipod the last three days, and I must say it's amazing for a startup company that's still trying to grow. I published up to three stories, and by the second day, I received payment into my Storipod wallet for the stories I published.
Many creators have been writing their stories, ideas, and creative works on the platform. The platform has a growing audience in Nigeria, and the platform has an app that all these features can be managed from. In addition to just microblogging, Storipod also serves as a creator's marketplace where creators can advertise their locked content for more earning potential.
The Storipod App
The Storipod app is designed with a mobile-first approach that makes it accessible and user-friendly for writers and readers. The mobile app is available for download on the Google Play Store for Android phone users and the Apple App Store for iOS/iPhone users.
Once you have the app downloaded on your smartphone, create an account with your Google Account, Apple ID, or email address. Once an account is successfully created, you can begin to post short stories on the platform and earn money. The money earned will be in equivalent to your country's currency.
For instance, all my earnings on Storipod are calculated in Nigerian Naira, and payouts are done once your earnings reach the threshold of N2,000. Then, you'll be required to verify your KYC and add your Nigerian bank account to receive payment.
How Much Can I Make with Storipod?
There are various methods of earning money on the Storipod platform: you can earn money by locking your posts (pods) for payment, receiving tips and gifts from supporters, and using the Pod+ feature to run ads. Storipod gives you 70% of your locked pod earnings and your total earnings from tips and gifts and keeps 30% as a platform fee.
Also noticed that since I have been using the platform, I receive money based on how users engaged with my stories because I only locked one pod, and the locked pod hasn't seen any buyout, but I receive money daily on my previous days pods/stories. Perhaps Storipod uses other metrics like reader engagement, like views, likes, comments, and read time, to pay creators.
However, it's important to note that at the time of writing, the Storipod app hasn't been showing the numbers of views a pod has gotten, and I really think this is an important feature every microblogging platform should have.
Storipod's Pod+ and Ads
Storipod+ (or Pod+) is a built-in advertising tool on the Storipod platform designed to help content creators and businesses expand their reach and grow their audience. With Pod+, users can create and manage ads to promote their pods to attract more followers.
It’s especially useful for creators looking to monetize their content further, as it offers performance tracking to understand which ads or content strategies are working best. While Pod+ boosts visibility and helps maximize earnings, it’s not the only way to make money on Storipod.
Creators can also earn through locked pods, where followers pay to access premium content behind a paywall, and through tips or gifts sent directly by supporters. The combination of tools—like the Business Suite, Ads Manager, and Pod+—makes Storipod a centralized platform for managing content, engaging with an audience, and earning income.
