Nigeria Train Derails Along Abuja-Kaduna Corridor
A Kaduna-bound passenger train derailed on Tuesday morning shortly after departing Abuja at 11:09 am. The train derailed at Asham, along the Abuja-Kaduna corridor. The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) announced the incident via its official X account. According to the television in a video shared, several coaches off the track, with passengers including women, children and men crawling out of the train. A passenger in the incident described the situation as "chaotic." Another passenger explained that she had been sitting in the last compartment, and when the train finally stopped and she stepped out, she saw that several other coaches had toppled over, with crowds of people standing nearby. It remained unclear what caused the derailment, and there has been no official confirmation of injuries or casualties.
