Meta confirmed at its Connect 2025 developer keynote that Discord will be made available as a native app on Meta Quest headsets (running Horizon OS) in 2026. This announcement was made alongside its new hardware. In addition to that, Meta also shared software updates at the Connect 2025 conference yesterday.
The hardware and software unveiled at the conference focus on wearables and AI. The highlights were the new Ray-Ban Meta Display smart glasses with a built-in lens display and the Neural Band wristband, which uses muscle signals for gesture control.
Meta also introduced updated Ray-Ban models and Oakley Meta Vanguard glasses, priced between $499 and $799, rolling out this fall. Alongside hardware, Meta previewed software upgrades like Horizon Studio for 3D content creation and improvements in Quest headset features.
The event wasn’t without hiccups — several live demos glitched, including a cooking demo with the AI assistant and a video-call test using the Neural Band. Still, the announcements underline Meta’s push to make smart glasses and AR devices more practical for daily life, with deeper AI integration and new ways to interact hands-free.
Discord Coming as a Native App to Meta Quest
Meta also talked about software updates for Quest headsets at the Connect 2025 yesterday. The company placed particular emphasis on improving how Quest headsets scan real-world spaces to create immersive environments.
In addition to that, the company announced that Discord will launch a native Quest app in 2026, joining other communication tools like Zoom and WhatsApp. The development makes sense. VR is a platform with a lot of gaming presence, so having Discord for easy social and voice connections while playing is a win for players and a natural match for the two businesses.
